A look at Starcraft II’s Zerg

Over at Gaming Today there’s a great video featuring Starcraft II lead producer Chris Sigaty, who talks about the evolution of the Zerg race in the upcoming sequel to Blizzard’s hit real time strategy title. He explains about how both new and old units play an integral role in shaping the Zerg race and its role within the game, and in particular he shows off the truly awesome Queen Zerg, who is far deadlier than she was in the previous installment.
I have to admit I was already excited about Starcraft II, but seeing so much of the game action in this video really got me pumped up. Even more exciting to me, however, was the clear indication that Blizzard is putting its trademark level of attention on asymmetrical balance… one of the most difficult aspects of getting a modern RTS “right”.
Oooo I can’t wait. Blizzard, you are the wind beneath my wings.
