Kids: If you live with your mom and you’re told to do a chore, just put a cork in your pie hole and do it. “Why?” you ask? Because, as Gizmodo reports, your mom may end up pwning you in a huge way.

The story is about a 13 year old kid from Virginia who was told to put down the Xbox 360 controller and do a little house work. Instead of doing as he was asked, he intentionally broke the vacuum cleaner and went back to Bioshock or whatever he was frying his brain on. Then came the stinging lesson in hierarchical authority within American households: Mom put his Xbox and games on Ebay (and, as a footnote, also busted him for surfing porn). Here’s part of the story:

My 13 year old managed to break the vacuum….thinking it would release him from that duty. He also has a list of other chores that were TYPED up for him to do Friday afternoon….one thing on the list was done…mind you these are simple things…empty the trash, clean your room, etc. Then I go thru the cookies on his computer and find out he has been checking out porn sites. Now there is a password so he can’t even get on and his my-space page has a picture of snoopy on it now. Apparently I’m the meanest mom in the world, were his words.

I’m a single mom. I can’t let them walk over me or I might never get up.

We all do stupid things at 13. And we pay the rational consequences associated with them. Then we learn our lessons. Well, he did something stupid. He paid the rational consequence. And now we just hope he learned something. I have faith in him, though; he can think about his behavior while staring at his sassy new Myspace layout.
