While the gaming community at large may be ready to get down on their collective hands and knees and kiss Grand Theft Auto IV’s butt, Games Radar swims against the flow and suggests that maybe the potentially biggest game title of 2008 could result in a truck load of “meh”. They list twelve potential problems with the upcoming release, ranging from criticisms about the music to concerns about the small size of the game world, and explain what kind of impact it’ll have on the game. The whole process is a bit of a red herring, though; first, check out this opening paragraph:
Well, yes, probably. GTA IV, however, won’t be perfect. Even now, more than two weeks ahead of release, we can predict a dozen reasons the sequel might bug you, bother you or just plain disappoint you. Some are legitimate and some are stupidly nitpicky, but for fans accustomed to the absolute best, all merit and deserve discussion. Recalibrate your expectations accordingly…
Sounds pretty edgy, but then each and every point they make about how GTA IV could fail is followed up with a “why it doesn’t matter” point which brushes off concerns and resets the meter for “GTA IV WILL RAWK”. It’s an intelligent article, but if you’re looking for no-holds-barred GTA IV bashing, this isn’t it.
