Gran Turismo: What’s the deal with the damage?
Posted March 27th, 2008 at 12:06am
Kotaku has a bone to pick with Gran Turismo creator Kazanori Yamauchi, and should mind the invitation for a libel lawsuit while they're at it. After calling Yamauchi a "total liar" because he's claiming one thing about GT damage:We've had a lot of discussions with the manufacturers and although at the beginning they hated the idea of deformation, now they're slowly coming around to it. We've still got a few to convince, but we will. Expect deformation in the very near future: very, very soon. ...and Kotaku claims another:Rubbish. If I can demolish an exquisitely-modelled Ferrari in Project Gotham Racing, I can do it in Gran Turismo. Quit being such a ninny over scratching your lovely, shiny car models and bring a dash of realism to the series, will you? This excuse is as wafer-thin as the arse-end of my favourite jeans. Gran Turismo players, step forward would you? Post some comments about what your take on this is. I don't play it, myself, but Kotaku is making some solid points here. One million pre-orders for Gran Turismo 5

If you see the positively luscious visuals for the Playstation 3's upcoming Gran Turismo 5 then it won't come as much surprise to you that it's accumulated a whopping million pre-orders in Europe. Though the title is already kicking all butt in Japan as it is, the European pre-orders are the most noteworthy of all. Ars Technica credits the downloadable "beta" version and the PS3 bundle deal as having a lot to do with it.Combined with the inevitable sales generated by the downloadable version of the game and the recently-announced Euro GT5 PS3 bundle, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is on track to rock Europe hard when it lands later next month. Fellow download and disc title Warhawk, the leaderboards for which indicate that over 500,000 players have played at least a single ranked game, has set the pace for full retail-equivalent downloadable titles. That's a pace that Polyphony Digital's sim racer will likely be more than able to best. If you have a PS3 already make sure you browse the downloadable games and demos to find a pre-release "beta" style version of the game that you can get for free and test-run. If you're someone who got the console for the eye candy then you won't be disappointed.gran turismo, Playstation 3, ps3
